Welcome.

My name is Dara, and I graduated from Harvard in 2003, where I spent the majority of my time as a writer for the Harvard Lampoon humor magazine, got a degree in government, and decided to become a scientist. After college, I spent two very enjoyable years as a researcher in Dr. Zach Mainen's group at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in New York, where I became interested in neural coding, the neural basis of behavior, and sensory perception.

I'm now a grad student at Columbia University in the department of neurobiology and behavior, where I study olfactory coding and perception in Richard Axel's laboratory funhouse, which, concidentally, is also very enjoyable.

When I'm not enjoying myself at work, other things I enjoy include cooking, gardening, watching sports (baseball, football), and the written word--check out my blog at Nature.com: http://network.nature.com/blogs/user/dara.
